Instead of VBS this year, our church decided to host FREE FAMILY EVENTs throughout the summer. We had an old fashioned ice cream party, a night called Creatures of Creation (where we got to pet an alligator... or was it a crocodile....) and a night out at Lowe's Motor Speedway! At the speedway we saw several different smaller race cars race around a portion of the track. It was a good thing we borrowed our neighbors earphones!! Each child was given a little race car cup with tatooes, pencils, bubbles, and gummy race cars! (thanks Oriental Trading!) And then as they left, they were given a wooden race car to assemble along with a devotional (written by my boss, Anne Crawford) to read while they were assembling. We tried to assemble ours the next day, but it didn't work out too good. Still, it was an interesting family activity and we were able to read the devotional together and learn how our Christian lives compare to a race car!

I bet this was super special for Aaron! What a great idea to bring families together!
That sounds awesome! We love hands on stuff that shows Biblical truths. Can you post the devotional (with appropriate permission)? I love seeing family photos, too. Thinking about you guys today, Kelly
