A Visit from the Holmes Family

Well, today we had a lovely visit from Geoff and Michele Holmes and their two beautiful children Joshua (4) and Meg (1). We enjoyed a delicious steak dinner (that my husband grilled) and had cookies and brownies for dessert. We then ventured out to the new mall in Charlotte. We went to see the Narnia exhibit. We got to walk into a snow globe and feel it snow all around us!! It was neat. We did some exploring of the new mall and then ate dinner at the food court. There is a little playground there that we kept promising the kids we'd visit. When we finally got there, they wouldn't let Rachel in because she was too tall!! She cried, and I was about to cry also. It's been really hard for her to adjust to all the "growing up" lately. I took her to a Libby Lu store instead. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a store with all "girly" things. There are all kinds of fancy dress up clothes, hair accessories, make up, lotions, jewelery, etc. You can make an appt. for you and your friends to get makeovers!!! They're called Libby Dus. I told Rachel we could come back with Christmas or birthday money and she and a friend could choose a makeover (there are several styles...). It's REALLY cute!!! I think the little "mommy and me" trip to the store made her feel a little better about not being able to play in the play area with the other kids. Growing up IS hard to do!!
Aaron is having a hard time sharing. He gets really cranky when he is tired and even bit the neighbor boy the other day!! He and Rachel have been fighting a lot!! He wants to do what she is doing, but she doesn't want him to copy her. His favorite game right now is sorting through all of his Hot Wheels cars. We recently rented a Hot Wheels movie and he really liked it. He also likes to watch Nascar on TV.
Summer is getting cuter and cuter (if I'm allowed to say so). She has started cooing and smiling. It will be really fun to show her off over Thanksgiving. Hopefully she won't cry the whole trip up north. She's getting better about that, but who knows?
Well, time to polish off the leftover brownies!! Love and prayers to you all!
